Introducing a new series: Highly Visible, Highly Booked (1 of 12)

Hi Reader,

Over the next 12 emails, I’m going to run a special email-only series: Highly Visible, Highly Booked: Upgrade your stages, increase your leads, and grow your income.

This series is specifically for coaches and consultants because your speaking strategy should be connected to the business you already have. It’s also the kickoff to my upcoming launch of The Visibility Shift. If you want my help increasing your speaking bookings and conversions through high-visibility speaking engagements, join the TVS waitlist here.

We’re going to talk about how to decide which stages are worth pursuing, how to make sure an engagement has a job before you say yes, and why some of the most impressive-looking opportunities may do almost nothing for your business.

We’ll also get into what you need before you pitch, how to make your applications stronger, and how public speaking can help you become one of the people your industry thinks of first.

If this is the year you want to stop being one of the best-kept secrets in your industry, stay with me for this series.

And even if you do not have a speaker reel or a long list of past engagements yet, you can start making these decisions now.

I’ve been thinking a lot about the way coaches and consultants approach public speaking, and I think too many of us start in the wrong place.

We start with the opportunity.

Someone invites us to speak on a panel, so we say yes. A conference opens its call for speakers, so we submit. We see someone else on a big stage and immediately wonder how we can get there too.

But very few people stop first and ask: What do I actually need speaking to do for my business?

A speaking engagement can put you directly in front of potential clients. It can also become a paid revenue stream of its own. And as you build your reputation, one stage can lead to another because someone in the audience remembers you when their organization needs a speaker.

But none of that happens simply because you got on stage.

If you sell a $10,000 consulting engagement, I want you thinking about which rooms contain people who can hire you for that work. If you want paid speaking to become a larger part of your income, I want you to think about which stages have budgets and how your positioning needs to change as your fees increase.

The goal is not to collect speaking engagements like infinity stones.

The goal is to become highly visible in the places that can create business for you.

That is also why I created my $500K Speak First Roadmap for my clients in The Visibility Shift. At the beginning, you may be working primarily through relationships and cold pitches. As you grow, the goal is to become known for a specific buyer problem, then a specific point of view. Eventually, people should begin coming to you because your name is already associated with the work you do.

There is a progression to this, and I want to teach you what it looks like.

Inside TVS, I help coaches and consultants who want to increase their speaking bookings and conversions through booking high-visibility speaking engagements so you can build a speaking strategy that supports the business you already have instead of collecting random stages. Until next time,

Kimberly

Episode 143 of the Your Next Move Podcast

Reader, Last year, when my mom died, I walked into her wake and saw flowers from Julia Rock. Julia and I weren’t best friends. We hadn’t worked together for years. We hadn’t even had that many conversations. But she saw that my mom had passed, found the funeral home herself, and sent flowers without asking me for a single detail. I still remember it. And during our conversation for this week’s episode of Your Next Move, I realized that moment explains Julia’s approach to leadership better...

Reader, I recorded a podcast episode this week with handwritten notes and a nervous stomach. [Click here for the links to listen to episode 139] And right before I hit record, I turned the camera on, looked at myself, and thought, "Ooh girl, you ain't put no makeup on. Go put some concealer on." Some people would have just recorded. See me in the raw, take it or leave it. That's not me. I got up, put a little something on, made sure my skin looked how I wanted it to look, and then sat back...
